Each piece of pottery is wheel-thrown from red, stoneware clay and fired in an electric oxidation kiln to just over 2200 degrees Fahrenheit.
I hand-mix all my glazes and am always developing a wider spectrum of color and texture in these glass paints. Every Tree is hand-painted with wax and carefully layered with glaze to create depth of color in the surface. I carve and layer multiple glazes in the Landscape Windows on my mugs to reflect the changing seasons, and often juxtapose the smooth colorful glazes against the raw clay. Each piece of pottery I create is unique because of these techniques, and the color and texture will often vary from firing to firing.
This pottery is intended for daily use and I recommend washing by hand with a mild detergent to ensure longevity.
